The MMA-A App, developed by DPA Microphones, is an essential tool for enhancing the audio capture capabilities of the DPA Microphones MMA-A Digital Audio Interface. While the MMA-A can function effectively right out of the box, utilizing the MMA-A App unlocks additional features and settings that allow for a more tailored audio experience.

The app provides users with an array of controls to optimize sound quality during recording and transmission:

• GAIN: The GAIN slider enables precise adjustment of input levels. Users can increase amplification by sliding to the right or decrease it by moving to the left. It is advisable to monitor the level meters, ensuring they remain within the green and yellow ranges during adjustments.
• FILTER: The FILTER button, which activates a low cut feature, effectively eliminates undesirable low-end frequencies that can compromise audio clarity. This functionality is particularly beneficial in noisy environments, such as outdoor recordings near traffic.
• MONITOR: The MON button facilitates real-time audio monitoring through connected headphones. Note that a headphone must be connected to the iOS device for activation. Additionally, if using a headset with a microphone, it should be connected prior to attaching the MMA-A via the Lightning connector, in accordance with iOS operation protocols.
• LOCK: The LOCK button prevents third-party applications from altering gain settings. Parameters can be saved and easily recalled across different recording or broadcasting apps, simplifying your workflow.
• PRESETS: Users can save preferred configurations for specific microphones as presets. By pressing a designated preset button for three seconds after setting up, these configurations can be quickly accessed in future sessions—eliminating the need for repeated adjustments.

Additional features enhance the functionality of the MMA-A App:

• MONO: When a single microphone is connected to either input I or II, MONO mode is automatically selected, routing the mic input to both output channels.
• STEREO: This mode is ideal for capturing sources in stereo. Both microphones are regulated by one GAIN slider, allowing for a cohesive recording of ambient sounds using similarly sensitive microphones.
• DUAL: DUAL mode allows individual gain adjustments for inputs I and II, accommodating different microphone types or recording scenarios involving multiple speakers with varying voice levels.
• SUM: This functionality creates a mix of both input channels when two microphones are in use. The MONO button transitions to SUM mode, enabling balanced output channel management alongside individual gain control for each input.
